While Jess and I live on opposite sides of the country, sometimes our minds sync up in strange ways. This happened last week, when Jess shared about how she recently turned something ordinary into a beautiful jewelry rack. To tell you the truth, I was a little freaked out, because I had done a very similar thing in my own bathroom just days before.
Last fall, I moved into the first house Dale and I have ever owned. Side note: it’s occurring to me now that I might not have mentioned this before, which is pretty strange given that I blog about crafts and home-related things quite often. I guess I’ll have to do a New House post soon, eh?
Anyway, along with all of the trials and tribulations of moving every single item one owns from one place to another, I found myself feeling low about how disorganized my bathroom was. I couldn’t find anything when I needed it and had pretty much stopped wearing any jewelry because it was still packed away.
One Sunday afternoon, I got fed up with my own mess and decided to bring all of that jewelry into the light. I didn’t have anything to display the stuff, though. Therefore, I did what any semi-crafty person would do: scoured my house for any random object I could use so I wouldn’t have to buy anything. What I found: a handful of tacks and a neglected decorative wire bowl. I gathered them up and threw all my jewelry on them, “et voila!” (in Jess’ words.)
Now that everything is in sight, picking out jewelry to wear is almost like picking a beautiful truffle from a candy box: completely fun and indulgent. Also, I’m glad to know that, even when separated by many miles, Jess and I can still have those bursts of synchronicity that make friendship so much fun.

Awwww, I love it that we are dealing with the same crafty challenges. That bowl is a great solution to hanging your earrings. It looks cute!
